A selection of our outputs and other interesting stuff
We've been reviewing the performance of the multi-service hubs that we've been piloting in Uganda with long-time partners Rural Aquaculture Development. Funding from the FoodShot Global Prize has enabled us to understand some of the early impact of that the hubs are having on farmers livelihoods and on local fish consumption. You can read the full report here.
We are proud to be part of the team that developed the SAWA tool (Sustainable Activities in Water Areas) with Longline Environment, Gatsby Africa and various agencies of the Government of Kenya.
Health management is becoming increasingly critical as aquaculture continues to develop across most African countries. For many farmers it is not clear who can help them or what resources are available to them locally to address disease challenges and reduce the risk of diseases spreading. With FAO's support and in collaboration with our colleagues at Casammak Aquaculture, we produced 10 Aquatic Health Information Briefs for Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.
We produced the foundational document - Road to Sustainable Aquaculture - assessing aquaculture challenges and priorities that fed into the Roadmap for Sustainable Aquaculture of the Friends of Ocean Action, Blue Food Partnership, World Economic Forum.
