Supporting aquatic animal welfare in Asian aquaculture

Farmers always want the best performance out of their animals and often that means providing them with the optimum growing conditions - good feed, the right environmental conditions, keeping them healthy. But today we understand that welfare is more complex and more nuanced if we want to ensure that we are providing the animal with the best possible life (and death). Consumers and international supply chains are increasingly insisting on welfare throughout production. But where do you get the right information and how do you demonstrate appropriate evidence? We are have collaborations with FAI Farms and Shrimp Welfare Project and Fish Welfare Initiative to explore how farmers can ensure they are producing to the highest welfare standards.
